Paul Giamatti, Born Paul Edward Valentine Giamatti is an American actor probably best recognised for his roles in films such as ‘Cinderella Man’, ‘Sideways’ and the hit M Night Shyamalan film Lady in the Water.

Paul was born on
June 6th 1967 in New Haven, Connecticut. He is the son of a Yale University president who is also a commissioner of Major League Baseball. His mother was an English teacher and actress. His brother Marcus is also in the acting industry.
Paul Giamatti was an extremely dedicated student and has a master’s degree in fine arts and was an English master at Yale. He had several famous classmates in his time at Yale such as Ron Livingstone and Edward Norton.

Giamatti soon began performing acting roles on Broadway and gradually made his way up into the world of TV and movies in the 1990’s.
The first role that he was really noticed in was that of Kenny ‘Pig Vomit’ Rushton in Howard Stern’s hit movie ‘Private Parts’. This proved to be the first rung on the ladder to many more supporting roles in hit movies such as ‘The Truman Show’ starring Jim Carrey ‘Saving Private Ryan’ and many more.

More recently Paul Giamatti has had several more high profile roles in some fantastic movies such as the lead role in the supernatural film by M Night Shyamalan ‘Lady in the Water’ in which he played Cleveland Heep, a janitor who finds a mysterious creature known as a ‘Narf’ living in his swimming pool. From there, he co starred alongside friend and fellow actor Edward Norton in ‘The Illusionist’.

Paul Giamatti married his wife Elizabeth Cohen in 1997 and the couple have a son together called Samuel who was born in 2001.
